Rest time coupla weeks !
After a fab show in Kyra, time for another break, Ajit is overseas on work and comes back end Aug and then off I go on work for 2 weeks….So essentially no live gigs till end of Sept, In the mean time more new tracks are getting fabricated, the recording is going to be in progress and come what may, our album will be out in 2 months (we’ve said that many a time before ) but this time we are actually going to make it happen !

Thank You
Thanks for coming in large numbers and cheering us on at Kyra Theatre.
For those of you who couldn’t make it, it was a great gig as usual, but with some unusual “first-time”s for the band.
First up, Snehal Pinto, our good friend joined the jam on additional keyboards and piano - the first time we ever played with 3 Keyboards.
Next, the sound check took a good 2 hours even after which we weren’t too happy. The show finally kicked off at 9 PM and that for the record is the longest sound check the band has had & farthest we have pushed the start time for a gig in Bangalore.
Ajit debuted his new processor & firewire interface on a MacBook pro & lost the rear number plate of his car ( the latter, we believe, had no connection to the gig :-) ).
Vinay introduced his new Roland kick drum for the first time in a live show.
We introduced two new originals to some resounding feedback.
And finally, it was the first time where we recorded our live performance from start to finish.
To sum it up, an excellent show!
Thanks Snehal, Thanks Kyra!
More exciting things to come, stay tuned.
Upcoming gigs
Next show Kyra Theater , Indiranagar - August 7th ,Saturday, 8 pm. Many new original tracks and some cool old covers as well.
July plans !
July is a month off, for the band, from Live gigs…This is intentional, Its a month we have decided, no matter what, we will work on new original compositions, three new tracks are underway and they sound promising, the music is kind of done, the words are ready too, just needs to be put together.
Also more importantly In our quest to release a full length album, we think the time has finally come to get all the tracks together and make a release. However we will do it differently. We plan to record all the tracks played LIVE and release it as an album, This is the only way we can get it out , our busy day jobs and family lives simply do not permit us the time and the luxury of going into a studio and doing a track by track recording.
Plan is to try and release a “Sonic Flare - ‘Yet to be named’ LIVE DVD” with the MP3 tracks available as bonus material too. We will be hitting the studio end of July to Video shoot and Audio record the full album one shot…first time we are ever venturing into doing something like this and truly hoping this works well.
More updates as time rolls by…Stay tuned

Brilliant gig at Take5 !
Oh…. what a fantastic evening yesterday at Take5 , one of our favorite places to play in Bangalore, The best part of playing here is the crowd who are so musically knowledgeable and inclined and love most of the not so popular tracks from the popular bands we cover. Whats even better is playing our originals here which usually get more applause than the covers we do… 28 tracks and killer vocal deliveries by Nikhil and Priyanka , mindblowing endless impromptu jams and seriously trippy guitar leads earned us many more fans….It was wonderful to see many fans of the band who are hard core loyals to specific pubs (other than Take5) come there to watch us play yesterday, they definitely deserved a dedication , so we did :-)
All in all , one hell of an awesome gig :-) , Not really dying to get a July gig, time to revisit some old songs and write new material of our own, way overdue…..
Hope all is well

Mercury levels rise in Delhi !!!
The onslaught of Sonic Flare in Delhi on the 29th of May at Tabula Rasa, the most happening Lounge bar in Delhi caused temperatures to rise (We mean Literally) !!
What an awesome show it was, gig started at 10 pm and we wound up at 1 am, a total rowdy crowd who wanted to let their hair down and have a total blast ..the gig was sponsored by a buddy Prashant Garg who runs a charity org called “Smiles for All” . Nikhil was at his best with killer vocal deliveries but the band missed Priyanka as hell as she did not perform due to a personal tragedy at home.We also had Saurabh (our previous vocalist) who is now in Delhi to sing four tracks with the band.

We also played many tracks over and beyond our setlist and some of them completely impromptu, songs which we havent played in years !!
We will rock delhi again in a couple of months \m/
Next gig in Take5, June 13th Sunday, Many many new tracks….Always look forward to playing there…

Upcoming gigs
May 29th - Tabula Rasa - Lounge bar in Delhi, Saket - Entry Rs 2000/- per person.
June 13th - Take5 - One of our fav places to play in Indiranagar…
Two good shows behind us now :-)
Been a crazy month for the band, Two shows back to back on both weekends,
First it was Herbs and Spice, this awesome food joint in Indiranagar on the 10th of April, Inspite of the RCB match that nite , the place was packed so we did a no stop show from 9 pm to 11.30 pm. The crowd was responsive but not rowdy like the pub crowd ;-), all in all a good time was had by all. Special thanks to Manjit singh for having us over and Sreenath our long time buddy for getting us the gig :-)

We did realize though that the next gig we will play there will be a complete acoustic setup, drums sound too loud in a place like that and H&S being a food joint, people really like to enjoy their food over some conversations, so we do look forward to playin there again sometime in the future in a totally diff setup.

Next up on April 17th was the gig at MITE Mangalore, one hell of a college in Moodbidri, sprawling campus, great sound/lights and a totally rowdy crowd, Gig started only by 11 pm (as the blabbermouth chief guest could not stop talking) and we rocked the place till about 1.30, again a crazy high energy gig, mostly covers for the college kids and we had a blast more than anything else…not to forget our grumpy TT driver and a near miss in going to the heavens enroute !!!
More gigs coming
Stay tuned…
Gig Dates..
April 10th Saturday - Herbs and Spice , Indiranagar.
April 17th Saturday - Mangalore Institutue of Technology and Engineering , Moodbidri , Mangalore
May 22nd Saturday - Delhi private gig
Beat the Bad Street Boys at Take5
Well, 2 members of the band not being around, vacationing in different parts of the world, Ajit falling sick 3 days prior to the show, 2 International acts (Back street boys and Richard Marx ) performing on the same day as our gig……cant get more crazy than that ……but yesterday was a testimony to that fact that all said and done, Bangalore simply loves Classic Rock music and of course Sonic Flare…..175 people packed to the hilt at Take5 one of our favourite performance venues and that was yesterday, started the show on dot 8.30 pm and 28 tracks later wound up at about 11.20 , 20 mins past the deadline….was for the first time we did a Covers only GIG due to the absence of Priyanka and Jongky…

Highlight of the show was a nice acoustic set in the second set of the show we had prepared specifically for Take5 and of course having our very very dear buddy Snehal Pinto (Ex Galeej Gurus) come and play the keys for us………
Some great Jamming moments came off the gig which we will cherish for a long time…..
Looks like March is a break month with no gigs as Im busy as a bee….in case we do get any last minute we may play depending on my schedule…..but else we are all geared up to rock MITE In moodbidri on the 17th of April…
Hope all is well
Peace \m/
