Two good shows behind us now :-)

Been a crazy month for the band, Two shows back to back on both weekends,

First it was Herbs and Spice, this awesome food joint in Indiranagar on the 10th of April, Inspite of the RCB match that nite , the place was packed so we did a no stop show from 9 pm to 11.30 pm. The crowd was responsive but not rowdy like the pub crowd ;-), all in all a good time was had by all. Special thanks to Manjit singh for having us over and Sreenath our long time buddy for getting us the gig :-)

hs

We did realize though that the next gig we will play there will be a complete acoustic setup, drums sound too loud in a place like that and H&S being a food joint, people really like to enjoy their food over some conversations, so we do look forward to playin there again sometime in the future in a totally diff setup.

Next up on April 17th was the gig at MITE Mangalore, one hell of a college in Moodbidri, sprawling campus, great sound/lights and a  totally rowdy crowd, Gig started only by 11 pm (as the blabbermouth chief guest could not stop talking) and we rocked the place till about 1.30, again a crazy high energy gig, mostly covers for the college kids and we had a blast more than anything else…not to forget our grumpy TT driver and a near miss in going to the heavens enroute !!!

More gigs coming

Stay tuned…

Beat the Bad Street Boys at Take5

Well, 2 members of the band not being around, vacationing in different parts of the world, Ajit falling sick 3 days prior to the show, 2 International acts (Back street boys and Richard Marx ) performing on the same day as our gig……cant get more crazy than that ……but yesterday was a testimony to that fact that all said and done, Bangalore simply loves Classic Rock music and of course Sonic Flare…..175 people packed to the hilt at Take5 one of our favourite performance venues and that was yesterday, started the show on dot 8.30 pm and 28 tracks later wound up at about 11.20 , 20 mins past the deadline….was for the first time we did a Covers only GIG due to the absence of Priyanka and Jongky…

Snehal on keys

Highlight of the show was a nice acoustic set in the second set of the show we had prepared specifically for Take5 and of course having our very very dear buddy Snehal Pinto (Ex Galeej Gurus) come and play the keys for us………

Some great Jamming moments came off the gig which we will cherish for a long time…..

Looks like March is a break month with no gigs as Im busy as a bee….in case we do get any last minute we may play depending on my schedule…..but else we are all geared up to rock MITE In moodbidri on the 17th of April…

Hope all is well

Peace \m/

Sonic Flare backs out of MCC.

For the first time ever in the history of the band did Sonic Flare back out of a gig, Our Terms and Conditions state very clearly that we DO NOT play gigs less than 90 mins (apart from sound check) simply not worth the effort for us……. MCC called back couple of days ago to say we only have a 60 min slot which includes sound check……

So we backed out.

Moral of the story - When we say something on the site , we actually MEAN it :-)

Next show at Take5, 21st Feb, Indiranagar with guest musician Snehal Pinto on the keyboards….

A crazy show at HRC last night !!

Ever wondered how you would have a fab show and a terrible show at the same time??, Yesterday was once such show and has been a new experience altogether..

Here is how !

The Audience loved the band and the stuff we played last night at HRC (was an almost packed house) ended only at 11.30 ….30 mins over deadline , but we totally think we didnt do great simply because the sound on the stage was AWFUL !! The monitors were underpowered, the guy on the console simply did not know how to mix well, all of us at some point in time simply played out of gut or from the sound off the PA rebouncing off the walls which obviously has latency in it !!!!!!

When we came down for a break the crowd said we sounded fab…..so there you go, a great gig and a bad one both at the same time ! Some really happy customers even bought the band drinks !!!

Chris Avinash joined us in the second half and totally ruled, rocked whatever you want to call it….We had endless Improv Jam sessions on stage for most with him and Neeraj going for the kill and the second set was solely dedicated to covers and Chris even did an on the fly tribute to Michael Jackson by Singing Billie Jean :-)

The night ended with the Pink Floyd classic “Coming Back to Life” …thanks to HRC for having us over again and to all the wonderful peeps  who turned up at the gig :-)

Next show Mount Carmel college 5th Feb.

Peace

Two Fab shows in Mumbai !

Six of us, 120 kgs of equipment, about 14 bags and boxes, 6 hrs on the road, Official conference calls and moving stuff around and then finally the sight of Not Just Jazz by the Bay , a cute lil resto bar on Marine drive in mumbai, Now we are only used to shutting off at 11 pm always , but never ever started a gig at 10 pm…. However the band felt tight from the word go and 30 tracks later we were “almost” dead .Notice the word “almost” …cos we died again the next day around the same time !

Although the place was not really “PACKED” as in (our sense of packed where people stand upon one another ) but the response was amazing and if we are invited to play again 2 months later, it defly means they loved us !Nikhil rocking the night out too !

The nite ended with us paying tribute to the city by playing the famous “Hurt” song written for the 26/11 attacks …. Sombre but hey thats how they wanted it…..Finally hit hay at 3 in the morning !!

Priyanka Rocking \

The next day we repeat this exercise at the Bombay Gymkhana, however started the gig here at 9 and wound up at 12…Well this crowd was a lot more interactive and also wanted to let their hair down and dance too….So we landed up playing many tracks on the fly which we hadnt played for years and some songs with long improve sessions……

All in All totally dead and beat by 1 am when we had to pack up for a flight back home next day and after a heavy dinner and 5 of us cramming into one HUGE room just in front of the Gateway of India with an ocean view, got to hit the hay at 3 am …

All in all 2 good gigs, some new videos on youtube will follow too…A city which we will rock again sometime in March or so…

Next gig -  Hard Rock Cafe, Bengaluru 29th January…

Stay Tuned

One year on…..

and today is a grim reminder of how the events of 26/11 last year and how we all were glued to the TV sets hoping the carnage would end…Since then our single “HURT” has been played many times on the radio and we have recieved tonnes of good comments about it.

Today again it will be featured on

1) Radio Indigo’s night Patrol hosted by friend Saggy at 9 pm

2)TV9 and News9 have graciously agreed to air our video thru the day starting 4 pm….thanks to Mr Harsha

3)Between 3&5 pm and 7&8 pm Radio Fever 104 in Mumbai , and a special thanks to Mr Gaurav Sharma for featuring us..

We really hope the song is heard by the masses and is well taken cos it was written for this beautiful country and its people as a whole and hope we never have to write a song like this again.

Peace

Vinay
